Replacing the sugar in recipes with honey is a healthy choice. 

IT DEPENDS!

The Fact: 
Honey contains antioxidants, trace amounts of minerals, and has antibacterial qualities (especially higher-quality varieties!).

It definitely has more health benefits than refined sugar.

The Myth:
Despite those benefits, honey is still sugar – and that’s something most of us get way too much of! It is also calorie dense (it has a lot of calories for the amount of nutrients). 

Eating too much added sugar is linked with many chronic illnesses and diseases.

The takeaway: 
Enjoy honey – but do it in moderation!

There are a couple of things you can try!
First, make sure you’re eating enough for breakfast and lunch, and include some protein-rich foods. Protein can help keep you feeling full and satisfied and is less apt to contribute to that midday lull feeling.

Second, there is nothing wrong eating a between-meal snack! Make it a healthy choice that can tide you over until dinner. Planning ahead so you have something on-hand is key here! Think about items like fruit, nuts, or Greek yogurt.

Some morning yum. What did you have for breakfast Some morning yum. What did you have for breakfast today?

I have egg whites leftover from making eggnog, so I had a very simple egg white omelet with parsley, hemp seeds and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. I topped it with sprouts I grew in my window. 

The toast is home made whole wheat and I used leftover cranberry spread to top it.

So much yum! I am loving my life free from processed sugar!

How many little things do you take for granted in How many little things do you take for granted in your life?

I am so grateful for these two amazing kids @ca1eb_meyer and @abby.m.saiz who actually like doing things with me! I am  grateful that I live so close to the ocean, my happy place. I am grateful for this little wet dog, @tilliebug, who also loves the ocean! (And for the Little Bleue monster who escaped this photo.) I am grateful for my health, the Pacific Northwest and of course, my leggings.
